New Washington Law Chips Away At Anonymous Sperm and Egg Donation

A new law passed that guarantees children conceived with donations from a Washington sperm bank or egg donation agency will have access to medical records and the donor's full name when they turn 18. Donors can still avoid this by opting out of being identified when donating.

New Development in Discovering Why Quality Sperm Can Still Affect Infertility

A new study has found a link between why men with healthy sperm and good sperm counts still have infertility issues. A variation in a gene that codes one of the proteins that covers sperm can make it hard for the sperm to swim to the egg.

The Early Bird Catches the Sperm Music Video

Karen and Neil have been dreaming of starting a family, and the time has finally come to fill the nest. But the truth is sometimes even Birds and Bees have trouble making babies -- 1 in 8 couples have difficulty conceiving.

Couples should visit a reproductive endocrinologist (a doctor specializing in fertility) if they are unable to become pregnant after one year of regular, unprotected sex -- or after six months if the woman is over 35.

Is It Harmful To Be Born With a Different Color Skin Than Your Parents?

A case tried in the Northern Ireland Court of Appeal concerned a set of twins born from artificial insemination. The sperm donor had been white, but there was no guarantee that the children would be. When the twins were born, each had a different skin color. The mother, acting on the twins behalf of the twins, filed a suit against the donor seeking compensation.
